What the job is about?

With 20 production and over 300 non-production environments to manage for customers worldwide, the Miles Technical Team has a crucial and significant role within the company. Are you interested in joining this important team? Keep reading and find out what it is all about. 

The role of Application Engineer is truly diverse. The most important aspect of your job is to manage the build, release management, and deployment of the application. Automation is a key aspect in the release process, for monitoring, testing, server setup and middleware configuration.  

Besides that, you will also:  

  • Offer technical consultancy to customers, giving advice on architectural matters, hosting and application needs.  

  • Be responsible for the full application management, this means maintenance, installations, monitoring, and performance investigations. 

  • Solve unforeseen problems as flying MTT. By assigning one specific person, the team is more responsive and agile in dealing with these events.  

These are the technologies you will be working with: Oracle; MS SQL Server; IBM WebSphere, Red Hat JBoss, Wildfly, Unix/Linux/Windows, Ant scripting, Ansible, Bamboo, Kubernetes, Azure cloud. 

Your Skills and Interests.

Excellent communication skills are needed since you will be in direct contact with customers.  

With different expertise in the team, you understand the importance of teamwork. 

What else is expected:  

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT or equivalent experience.  

  • Knowledge of at least one scripting language is necessary  

  • Knowledge of at least one application server is necessary 

  • Good knowledge of English, and Dutch is a plus 

  • Interest in Kubernetes and Azure
