Java Developer (based in Tokyo)

What is the job about ?

We are looking for junior and medior Java backend developers in Tokyo and Osaka.

You will be part of a dynamic cross-functional team which has end to end ownership of delivering on commitments to our customers in Japan as well as overseas. The diverse tasks of the teams will allow you to grow your competences being more technical, commercial, innovative, supporting or anything in between. 

Several opportunities await your enthusiasm and drive, during each of them you will be guided by field experts and motivated colleagues to ensure great results for you and our customers. There are always compelling and exciting projects to work on varying over a wide range of domains and expertise areas:

• developing new modules or enhancing existing components of our established ERP solution

• working on our next generation service offering leveraging container technology

• building data architectures including adaptive visualization components

• building cutting edge consumer facing web sites based on our application platform

Your interests and Skills

Depending on your preference there are opportunities to hone your skills in (but not limited to) following domains:

• Java EE8

• RDBMS (Oracle, SQLServer, PostgreSQL)

 

Any experience or knowledge of the following will be highly valued:

• Quarkus, Jax-RS

• Angular 2+, PrimeNG, JSF, PrimeFaces, Flutter

• Kafka, HVR

• Docker, CloudFoundry, OpenShift, Kubernetes

 

• You have a Bachelor or Master degree in IT from a reputed university in Japan or an overseas equivalent. New graduates or soon to be graduated candidates are also welcomed

• You are passionate about innovative software solutions for businesses and consumers

• An advanced level exposure to Java and a passion to continue your career as a Java Developer

• You are fluent in English and have excellent written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of Japanese is a strong plus

What can you expect ?

In the first week you will be onboarded and start your integration into the Sofico organization. You will meet new colleagues in our development, consultancy, and operational teams and start your professional journey.

In the first month you will learn about our software, shadow colleagues on existing engagements, and begin leading project pursuits.

In the first three months you will build relationships with our project teams and start to contribute to the project teams as a trusted advisor.

In the first six months you will be proactive about new development and innovation initiatives. You will also be proactive with customer requirements and improvement opportunities.

In the first year you will have established your expertise in software development have and learned more about digital product development than you could have with any other company.
