What the job is about

As a Software Engineer with several years of experience, you know how to write code. Did you have the chance to do this for an international company in which you can take responsibility and initiative, share your ideas, and take part in the discussion? Here is that chance.

You’ll work on our core product ‘Miles’, an ERP software package covering all business aspects of a modern leasing company, automotive finance, or mobility provider, which is built in Java (Java 8-11/ Smart GWT).

Most of the time, You will be working on a standard or customized solution for one of the customers, but you will also improve the application and develop new modules from time to time.

Of course, you don’t do this alone, you are part of a multidisciplinary team that works in an agile way with 2-weekly sprints. Following up on this sprint planning will be one of your responsibilities as a senior. This while being in close communication with the business consultants about requirements and business needs on the one hand. And on the other hand, with testers who report back bugs, defects, etc.

You’ll be an active member of the java community within the company. You’ll share ideas about best practices, guidelines, and continuous improvement, most importantly though is your advocacy of these within your team and unit.

As a senior, you’ll not just write code but are also expected to create technical designs and analyses for other team members and guide junior developers to reach the next level.

Innovation is important, that’s why we’re making the shift to a next-generation microservices architecture with a fully integrated CI/CD pipeline, using technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka.

Your skills and interests

You have a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or an equivalent degree. And you have at least 5 years' experience within a development role.

You are passionate about building state-of-the-art solutions in Java Enterprise and are able to create technical designs and make analyses.

It is important that you keep the big picture in mind, how different elements are linked to each other in the architectural design and also, from a business requirement perspective.

You love solving problems together with your team. You do this in a methodical way and continuously strive for results and quality.

Since Sofico is an international company, being fluent in English is important. A good level of Dutch is a plus because most of your colleagues are Belgian.
