What the job is about

As Software Engineer you will be responsible for the implementation, development, and maintenance of our product 'Miles'. 

This starts with requirements analysis; planning, budget- and time estimation; development in Java using all the latest methods and techniques; testing; organize handover to customers, and provide technical documentation.

You will be based in Puebla working in the first place as part of the project team for the implementation of our product Miles at the captive financing company of a major European car manufacturer located in Puebla, and in the future for other local/international projects within the Latin American market.  

You will become part of our new hub serving the Latin American market, supported by experienced colleagues from other offices which will be relocated for a couple of years. You will be working closely with talented Analysts, Architects, and consultants in an open work environment. 

Together you realize a solution with a focus on the end-users. You will be involved as of the project start to ensure you understand all workstreams and the impact on your responsibilities.  You will be working closely with customers and subject matter experts to analyze information, gather business and technical requirements, understand business processes, etc.  

As Software Engineer you will have the opportunity to have a broad responsibility OR to specialize in the domain of Back-end development using Java / JEE.

  • RDBMS (Oracle, SQLServer, Postgres)

  • Quarkus & Jax-Rs

  • GWT, SmartGWT

  • Angular

  • Kafka

  • Docker & Kubernetes

Your skills and interests

  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT or equivalent.

  • You are an expert software developer with at least 3 years of experience. You are passionate about innovative software solutions in a Java/JEE environment.

  • You are fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written); knowledge of other languages is a plus.

  • You are prepared to travel occasionally and you are prepared to spend several weeks at Sofico Belgium for training purposes.

  • You are creative, responsible, pragmatic, and flexible and have strong analytical skills. You take initiative and are a motivated team player. You work methodically and strive continuously for results and quality.
